Stoker, Bram. Dracula. 1897. New York: Oxford University Press, 1990.
I chose this book because I have asked for advice on what to write this essay on. I have a bad case of writers block and can’t seem to get out of it. I am using this book as a reference for my essay to help give the ideas of what Vampires were considered. I have yet to have read the book but am in the process of it. I expect it to be like the movie which I have watched to help me understand the book.
A. L. G. A Vampire, and other stories. 1884. New York: Oxford University Press.
From what I’ve taken reading this short story (or so I think that’s what it is considered). It consists of a small poem. Written in the late 1800’s I expect it to be similar to Dracula.
Meyer, Stephanie. Twilight. New York: Little, Brown and Company, 2005. 544. Print
Twilight, the book everyone talks about. I have yet to have read it or watched the movies. I will vaguely read the multiple books Meyer has written. But focus on the first book mostly. I will use this as a source to show how vampires today, are beautiful and sexy.

I have not read Dracula either, but I hope to eventually. I have never heard of your second source, but it sounds very interesting. I would like to take a look at it. Twilight is a good choice to include in your essay. I would like to read your essay and see what your views about vampires are. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI used two of the same ources as you did and found bram stokers dracula and twilight very good examples for comparison. Im interested to see what you have chosen to write your vampire essay on and look foreward to reading it and maybe giving me more to think about on my final draft.
ReplyDeleteA lot of the class is doing Vampire related studies, of the ones I've read yours is the most interesting to me. It brings me back to popular culture studies about what America defines as grand or sexy ect.
ReplyDeleteAs for your writing block, I think everyone has a bad case of it! Its just a matter of committing to it and putting your fingers on the keys. When you try to generate ideas for your writing don't worry about grammar or even where it will go in the essay, just get it down and worry about it later! My rough drafts often look like gibberish with undeveloped ideas and horrific spelling, once I have time to take a break and clear my thoughts I come back and organize it and develop on the ideas I initially started but never finished.
Maybe you can find something worth trying, I think you will do fine, keep up your work ethic. All you can do is your best.
It sure seems like vampires were a popular monster chosen! Dracula and Twilight were two of the most popular sources I've seen people use. I really like that you are focusing on one book rather than all of them in the Twilight series. I feel like it will bring you a better understanding with vampire knowledge. It sure sounds like you are on the right track with your essay, and I hope that you feel confident in your final outcome.
